Common questions
What discount rate should I use?
For a company, WACC (weighted average cost of capital). For a personal project, use your opportunity cost — the return you could earn elsewhere at similar risk.
Why is IRR sometimes n/a?
IRR requires a sign change in the cash flow stream. If NPV is positive at every plausible rate, the solver can't bracket a root.
